Salta – Valles Calchaquíes
The Pulse of the Calchaquí Valleys
Salta is defined by its contrasts. In a single journey you travel through the lush green of the Lerma Valley and the colorful Calchaqui Valleys, where intense-hued hills and giant cardón cacti shape the landscape. The pace is steady and rhythmic, perfectly in tune with the land and its natural rhythms. Over the days, rural life and local culture reveal themselves in everyday moments: simple gestures, shared flavors, and traditions that remain alive and authentic.. It is an experience centered on connection with the land, its people, and a way of travelling that values calmness and authenticity.
Each Day, a Unique Adventure
The expedition runs over five days and four nights, starting and ending in the city of Salta. Each riding day includes five to six hours in the saddle, with breaks for lunch and rest along the way. All meals are included — from breakfast to dinner — featuring typical regional dishes prepared on site. Nights are spent in mountain refuges and rural outposts along the route. No previous riding experience is required; horses are carefully matched to each rider’s level. The group is accompanied at all times by experienced local guides and baqueanos, ensuring a safe, well-organized journey.
How to get there
The night before the ride, you will have the chance to join us at a traditional and authentic Peña in Salta, where you can enjoy the region’s folk music. Our adventure begins when we meet you in Salta early in the morning on the first day. From there, we take you to the hills behind the small town of La Viña, south of Salta, to meet the horses and saddle up. We recommend flying directly to Salta from Buenos Aires.
