Salta
Lovely, Fascinating, Stunning
Words cannot explain the beauty of Salta. High in the mountains over 3,000 meters above sea level, there is a rich valley surrounded by colorful mountain ranges, crisscrossed by rivers and history. Join us for our 5 days and 4 nights adventure in the mountains and valleys nestled between the Calchaquí Valley.
Gaucho Argentino creates small group expeditions throughout the year to offer you a unique experience – a personal encounter with the colors and culture of this region.
Season 2024 Dates
Holy Week: March 29th to April 2nd.
October 11th to 15 Complete group.
October 19th to 23.
November 4th to 8th.
Each day, a unique adventure
We leave early on the first day to introduce you to the sights and sounds of a lush river valley. We stay in small gaucho houses before crossing the high mountain pass the next day – so high you’ll feel like you can touch the sky (3470 meters).
With spectacular views, sometimes above the clouds, this is a trip you won’t forget. The next two nights are spent with our family in Amblayo, a small, remote village in a valley surrounded by majestic beauty. We will learn about the rural life and culture of this village and take a horseback excursion along the river and the wind-formed red stone field. After riding along rivers and pampas through cactus forests, our last night is spent in a rustic and very old gaucho’s house.
How to Get Here
The night before you will have the opportunity to join us in a traditional and authentic peña in Salta. There you will enjoy the folkloric music of the region.
Our adventure begins when we meet you in Salta, early in the morning of our first day.
Then we take you to the hills behind the small town of La Viña, south of Salta, to meet the horses and saddle them up. We recommend that you fly to Salta from Buenos Aires and for that we have a travel agent who can help you with the arrangements.
